Digital Prints

After research into possible quirky 1950's designs with a neon kitsch twist i came up with some graphic prints, here are some of the best ones below. Adding these prints with the very textural knits and embellishments will give a very kitsch and tongue in cheek 1950s style.

After making these patterns i felt that they were 1970 psychedelic than 1950's American Diner and didn't fit my theme quite right, so decided not to use them.

I had these printed onto woven chiffon and here is a preview of the finished sample sheet

Metre of Perspex, with nothing to do with it

After researching into different types of portfolios I decided on wanting a clean white Perspex folder with my name etched through. This is simple yet fashionable. I was recomended to buy from hindleys. Finally my Perspex came ! However now I can't get it done at the lazer cutter in Uni so will have to look at local company's that offer this service . Seems like a pain but will be worth it in the end !!

I will post more images of where my ideas came from for my portfolio below

Plastic fabric cutting

I bought a pink plastic sheeting that I think is perfect for the kitsch trend . However I wanted a way to manipulate it so it had a unique edge to it . So I tried punching it through the paper punch to see what effects I could get .I took inspiration from the plastic flower swim caps from the 1950's.  Here are some of the images below .

I also tried sewing into plastic with a neon thread , however was very difficult to get through the machine
